The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority (NPCA), in collaboration with local community groups, municipalities, environmental agencies, and government organizations, has established the Niagara Peninsula Tree Planting Partnership. Our collective mission is to contribute significantly to Canada's goal of planting 2 billion trees, enhancing the ecological health of the Niagara Peninsula watershed.

Program overview:

In early 2023, we launched the 'Trees For All' program, inviting private landowners in Niagara, Haldimand, and Hamilton to express interest in tree planting opportunities on their properties. The response was overwhelming, with over 800 landowners registering—thank you for your enthusiasm and commitment!

In late 2024, NPCA secured $2.3 million in funding from Natural Resources Canada’s 2 Billion Trees program, enabling a significant expansion of our tree-planting efforts. With ongoing support from all partners, we are well-positioned to make a lasting impact.

Current Status:

Since 2024, our team has been actively visiting prospective planting sites to assess suitability and finalize plans with landowners and municipal partners. We look forward to a 2nd planting season in 2025!
