Welcome to the NPCA's Get Involved portal!

The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority has partnered with local community groups, environmental agencies, and government organizations that share a common interest in helping Canada reach its goal of planting 2 Billion Trees for a better tomorrow. Together we have formed the Niagara Peninsula Tree Planting Partnership, striving to bring as many trees to the Niagara Peninsula watershed as possible.

In early 2023, we launched the 'Trees For All' campaign, seeking private landowner to express their interest in tree plantings opportunities on their property to include as part of a planting grant application and to help shape the Trees For All program. More than 800 landowners in Niagara, Haldimand, and Hamilton registered... THANK YOU.

Using this planting opportunity inventory, we submitted funding applications to both the Federal 2 Billion Trees Small Scale Rural and Urban/Suburban tree planting streams in June, with aspirations to plant 1 million trees across the Niagara Watershed by 2031. And now we wait for some good news!

Are you looking to plant this 2023 season?

Tina asked about 1 year ago

    Hi Tina,

We are planting this season however through our Restoration Grant Program which had an open call for applications last fall of which tree planting was an eligible project type.

Trees for All will be looking to begin planting in 2024 which would be year one of a high-volume multi-year tree planting program for the Niagara Watershed based on the envelope of interest expressed by registrants through this campaign, and the public lands drive with our municipal partners.

    Hope that clarifies!

    Sincerely,

    Trees for All Team

what does ARN stand for on the property registration form? Thanks

Laureen asked about 1 year ago

    Hi Laureen,

ARN stands for 'Assessment Roll Number' which is the unique identifier for an 'assessment parcel' in the parcel fabric from the province we are using in the registration application.  Its how we are linking the contact and other information registrants offer in the registration form to our property mapping base and appreciate where interest has been expressed.

    Hope this clarifies!

are you needing people to actually plant the trees if we don't own property

bdj asked about 1 year ago

    Hello BDJ,

We'll take care of planting services for the most part however, absolutely, yes!  Trees for All anticipates there will numerous community planting opportunities emerging from the inventory of panting sites we validate from both the private and public land (municipal properties our partners identify for planting) campaigns    You can register to be a volunteer here and be notified when these and other opportunities emerge through the NPCA .

    Sincerely,

    Trees for All Team

I am very interested in trees. Each year I buy at least 100 trees, mostly nursery stock seedlings or older trees for my Bonsai classes. I belong to several Horticultural groups and we try too promote the importance of trees. My question is what trees are you offering and how old are they?

Leon Martin asked about 1 year ago

    Hi Leon,

The trees that would be offered though this initiative would be native species appropriate for site conditions and would range from bareroot seedlings or whips to larger potter stock.

    Sincerely,

    Trees for All Team

Just got this notice in the mail. Would we plant the trees or would your organization? Thank you!

Mitch asked about 1 year ago

     Hi Mitch,

Typically Trees for All would however depending on the nature and scope of the planting opportunity there may be some ability for landowners to plant some on their own.

    Sincerely,

Was involved in a conservation effort 23yrs ago. Lost a lot of trees with emerald ash borer damage. Would like to do some replanting, would we be eligible for tree planting program? Property is 10 acres Welland river crosses the property.

maryanne asked about 1 year ago

    Hi Maryann,

In short, absolutely!  Great to hear of your past efforts and encourage you to register your interest.  We've been hearing a lot of the damage the emerald borer has done coming through the expressions of interest that has registered.  Your property sounds like a great planting opportunity!

    Sincerely,

Exactly WHERE are these trees being planted.

Patch asked about 1 year ago

    Hi Patch,

Trees for All is looking to plant trees on private property where landowners are interested and allow.  The express your interest/register your property tool includes mapping indicates valued tree planting opportunity areas where increased to environmental co-benefits could be realized however should an landowner be interested in planting, where on their property will remain their decision ultimately.

Our partners are also looking for opportunities on their public lands in collaboration with Trees for All as well.

As a result both private and public lands are being considered at the discretion of the landowner.

I hope this satisfies your question!

    Sincerely,

    Trees for All Team

Is this only for private homes or as an association we have tons of space to add trees. Please advise and thanks.

davidroush asked about 1 year ago

    Hi David,

Trees for All is not restricted to private homes, private property in general is encouraged as well.  Additionally we are working with our public landowning partners to identify property as well in parallel with the private land campaign.

    Gratefully,

    Trees for All Team
