The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority (NPCA) is developing a Watershed-based Resource Management Strategy (Watershed Strategy) to guide the delivery and enhancement of the programs and services that protect people and property from natural hazards and conserve natural resources in the Niagara Peninsula watershed.

The Watershed Strategy will integrate scientific research and data, public input, and best practices to manage and conserve the watershed in the face of environmental challenges.

As part of this strategy, NPCA will:

  • Integrate guiding principles and objectives from its Strategic Plan, which inform the design of programs and services;
  • Include a summary of information NPCA relies on to directly inform and support program and service delivery; and
  • Identify any issues and risks which may limit effective delivery of programs and services, including actions to address such risks.

Guided by the 2021-2031 Strategic Plan, our team of experts collaborated on a discussion paper that outlines our vision for the continued protection of natural systems and mitigation of natural hazards in the communities we serve, as well as the process for drafting the strategy.

Your participation is vital to the success of NPCA’s Watershed Strategy! Together we can identify key watershed issues and make informed decisions to enhance the natural environment, ecosystem resilience, and sustainability.

The Watershed Strategy is a requirement of Ontario Regulation 686/21 and is to be completed by December 31, 2024.
